How we review platforms, score them, and keep things honest. The short version: we use real money, show the math, and tell you when something isn't worth it — even if they're paying us.
Who We Are
DegenDestinations is an independent editorial site built by crypto-native travelers. We hold the tokens we analyze, use the platforms we review, and fly the routes we write about. The site exists because we got tired of doing staking math on napkins and couldn't find a single resource that spoke fluent crypto without dumbing things down.
We're not a news site. We don't chase daily price action or rewrite press releases. Every piece we publish is either a deep review, a data-backed comparison, or a step-by-step guide with numbers you can verify yourself.
How We Review Platforms
Every platform review on DegenDestinations follows the same process:
Real usage. We create accounts, complete KYC where required, stake tokens, and make actual bookings or transactions. No demo accounts, no simulated data.
Price verification. We cross-check prices against traditional OTAs (Booking.com, Expedia, Google Hotels) to verify whether the platform's pricing is competitive before staking rewards are applied.
Tier math. We model every staking tier, card level, or subscription plan at multiple price points and spending levels. The math is shown in full — not cherry-picked for the best-case scenario.
Risk assessment. We evaluate token volatility, lockup terms, platform regulatory standing, and what happens to your rewards if the token drops 50%. If the downside isn't worth the discount, we say so.
Scoring. Every reviewed platform receives a score out of 10 based on weighted criteria (see below). The score reflects our overall assessment for the crypto-native traveler — not a general consumer audience.
Scoring System
Platform reviews are scored on a 0–10 scale across six weighted categories. The overall score is a weighted average, not a simple mean.
Savings Potential
25%Maximum effective discount or cashback achievable through the platform. We model savings at multiple spending levels and tier commitments — not just the headline number.
Accessibility
20%How easy it is to get started and use the platform day-to-day. Includes onboarding friction, KYC requirements, minimum stakes, and UX quality.
Inventory & Coverage
20%Breadth and depth of available bookings or services. For OTAs: property count, geographic coverage, and supplier partnerships. For cards: merchant acceptance and network.
Token Economics
15%Quality of the underlying token or staking mechanism. We assess liquidity, historical volatility, lockup terms, and whether the token economics are sustainable or extractive.
Trust & Track Record
10%Platform history, regulatory standing, customer support quality, and how they've handled past issues. Includes refund policies and dispute resolution.
Ecosystem Integration
10%How well the platform connects with wallets, exchanges, DeFi protocols, and other tools in the crypto travel stack. Reward stacking potential with complementary services.
Card comparisons and guides don't receive a single score — they're structured as head-to-head analyses or step-by-step walkthroughs with per-profile recommendations instead.
Update Policy
Crypto platforms change constantly — tier structures get restructured, perks get removed, token prices move. We revisit every published review when material changes occur (perk removals, tier restructuring, major token price moves) and update the content with a visible "Updated" date badge. We don't silently edit old content — if a score changes, we note what changed and why.
Affiliate Disclosure
DegenDestinations earns commissions when you click certain links and make purchases, sign up for services, or complete bookings. This is how we fund the site. It costs you nothing extra — the platform pays us, not you.

Editorial Independence
Affiliate partnerships do not influence our ratings, rankings, or recommendations. Period. Our review methodology and scoring criteria are applied identically to every platform regardless of whether we have a commercial relationship with them.
If a platform is bad, we say so — even if they pay us. If a competing platform is better, we recommend the competitor. The math doesn't lie, and neither do we. Our credibility with readers is worth more than any single affiliate commission.
